Supreme Court Rejects Ten Commandments Appeal

The U.S. Supreme Court Monday refused to hear an appeal in the Alabama Ten Commandments case. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was suspended from his job on Aug. 22 after he refused a federal judge's order to remove the monument that was installed in the Alabama Judicial Building by his order. Moore wanted the U.S. Supreme Court to settle the question of whether the Ten Commandments could be displayed in a government building, but in rejecting the case, the Supreme Court did not touch on that issue. Moore faces a Nov. 12 trial before an Alabama judicial court, which decides cases of alleged judicial misconduct. Moore is charged with violating judicial ethics.
