Northeast
Regional Video

A good portion of the Northeast will be dry and mild today. The exception will be sections of southern New England and Long Island. A storm system in the Atlantic will spin some moisture inland, so look for periods of rain and drizzle. Temperatures in these areas will only reach the 50s. Interior sections of the Northeast will be more likely in the upper 60s to low 70s.
South
Regional Video

A stationary frontal boundary and a series of disturbances aloft will combine to produce showers and thunderstorms across parts of the South today. Thunderstorms may become severe around the Mississippi Valley with large hail, damaging winds and a possible tornado or two. Thunderstorms will also be scattered along the Gulf Coast. Parts of northern and central Florida have already seen thunderstorms this morning. High temperatures will range from the 60s around the Appalachians to near 100 degrees in the Rio Grande Valley.
Midwest
Regional Video

A cold front will trigger plenty of rain from the Upper Midwest to the middle Mississippi Valley today. A few severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes, may erupt over southern Missouri and southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma. High temperatures will range from the 50s in the western Dakotas to the 70s in most of Michigan and in southern sections of the Midwest.

West
Regional Video

Much of the West will be sunny and dry today. The exceptions will be over parts of the northern and central Rockies where rain and snow showers will be scattered about. Highs should range from the 40s in the northern Washington Cascades and parts of the northern Rockies to over 100 in parts of southwest Arizona and California's Death Valley. The Central Valley of California will enjoy highs in the 80s. Hikers and campers around the Merced River should be aware that flooding, from rapidly melting snow in the Sierra Nevada, may occur.
