MEMPHIS, Tenn., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- The FBI is investigating a letter threatening FedEx airplanes in Memphis and Fort Lauderdale, the south Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The FBI confirmed the investigation but would not comment on the specifics.

The newspaper reported the letter apparently originated in Memphis, where the company is headquartered.

The National Transportation Security Administration said they knew of no such threats.

A FedEx cargo plane crash landed in flames at Memphis last week, but there were no indications the crash or the fire was the result of any foul play.

FedEx handles 95 percent of all air cargo at the Memphis airport, according to the company's website.
