Gun rights advocate Ted Nugent addressed members of the National Rifle Association at it's annual convention Saturday, telling members to be "hardcore, radical extremists demanding the right to self-defense.

Nugent extolled the importance of membership, saying that members should set a goal of each recruiting 10 new members each year, and even going so far as to say members should only associate with other NRA members.  "Let's next year sit here and say, 'Holy smokes, the NRA has 40 million members now,'" he said. "No one is allowed at our barbecues unless they are an NRA member. Do that in your life."

The 'motor city madman', as was his nickname back in his Rock & Roll heyday, played a red & white striped guitar to a large convention audience in Houston, and the crowd went wild with applause when he told gun owners that they should never give up their right to keep and bear arms and should use their guns to protect themselves when necessary.
