A vote that allegedly showed the overwhelming support of United Nation’s staff for Secretary General Kofi Annan may not have been so overwhelming. It turns out that of an estimated 30,000 ballots that were sent out , only three thousand ended up being counted. Perhaps even more telling were the choices presented on the ballot, well actually just one choice. The ballot only had a space signifying support for Annan, there were no other alternatives. According to some inside the U.N. if the cursor used mark the electronic ballot even came near the “yes” box on the computer screen it registered support for the Secretary General. In addition if the personnel who did not vote to support Annan Complained they were ignored and their votes remained unchanged.
