Bullet numbering scheme called Hare-brained

California’s attorney general is proposing what some are calling a hare-brained scheme to require all handgun ammunition sold in the state to be individually serial numbered. Bill Lockyear’s plan to trace bullets back to the original purchasers is only the latest example of his long campaign to disarm the public. Joe Waldrin, executive director of the Citizen’s Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear arms calls Lockyear’s idea, “A hare-brained fantasy”. Says Waldrin, “We think Lockyear should first test this technology on all police ammunition. Such identification would prove useful in determining who fired what shots in police shootings, and if the technology works, then a more comprehensive requirement might be considered.”
