Two year-old boy dies at the hands of lesbian mother and her partner

When police entered the Harlem apartment shared by Carmine Molina and Zahira Matos they found the tiny battered body Yovany Tellez Jr. The two year-old was covered with over sixty bruises and was and lying in his own blood. Despite heroic efforts the child was pronounced dead less than thirty minutes later at St. Luke's Hospital. According to reports Matos, the boy's mother, left him in the apartment with Molina with whom she had started a lesbian affair in November. Upon her return Matos s claims she noticed a large bruise on the little boy's forehead.She says that when the boy soiled his diaper Molina exploded and struck him in his stomach. Police suspect that because of the extensive damage to the child's body the abuse was ongoing. Matos also has two 6 year-old daughters who are in the custody of child welfare authorities. Both women face second degree murder charges.
