A cold front moving through the eastern half of the country will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the South today.
The threat of rain will be in place over the region throughout the day, but it is not expected to be an all-day rain.
A system currently in the Four Corners region will begin to move into the Southern Plains and bring another chance of rain through the region through Tuesday before moving off the coast on Wednesday.
After a quiet day on Thursday, showers will return to the Texas Coast and Lower Mississippi Valley by Friday.
Highs today will be much cooler than yesterday?s record highs in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and North Texas; across the region, highs will range from the 30s in northern Oklahoma, northwestern Arkansas, and the Texas Panhandle to the 80s in South Texas, the Florida Peninsula, and the Louisiana Coast.
Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible in the Ohio Valley today, while some freezing rain, sleet, and snow are possible over Lower Michigan and portions of northern Ohio.
Winds will increase from the Mississippi River eastward today behind a cold front moving through the region.
After the front passes by, some lake-effect snow is expected near the Great Lakes tonight and tomorrow.
A system developing over the Southern Plains and Gulf Coast will bring moisture northward tomorrow night, leading to a chance of a mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow in the Ozarks and Ohio Valley tomorrow night into Tuesday, with snow developing further north on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Another system will move into the region on Friday bringing a chance of snow to the Upper Midwest and a mix of rain and snow in the Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys.
Highs today will range from around -10 in northeastern North Dakota to the 60s in eastern Kentucky.
An upper level trough and developing surface low will bring a chance of rain and snow to the Four Corners today and tonight before moving into the Southern Plains by tomorrow.
In the Pacific Northwest, another storm system will begin to move ashore late tonight bringing another round of heavy rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds to the Northwest.
An upper level ridge will begin to build over the West later this week bringing warmer temperatures across the region, and pushing the storm track into Canada which will give the Northwest a break from the recent unsettled weather.
Highs today will range from near zero in northeastern and northwestern Montana to the upper 60s near Los Angeles.
Much of the Northeast will enjoy a sunny and seasonably cold day today; areas south of the Mason-Dixon Line and far western Pennsylvania will see a chance of showers, with some freezing rain possible in pockets.
Rain, freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow will spread across the region tonight, with mainly light precipitation expected.
Temperatures should stay above freezing tonight in much of Pennsylvania and south as well as along the Southern New England Coast.
Some lake-effect snow showers are possible tomorrow near the Lakes, with rain mixing with and changing to snow in the Pennsylvania and New York Mountains after the cold front moves through; a wintry mix is possible in New England.
Precipitation should come to an end by tomorrow night.
Another round of wintry weather will begin to move into the region Tuesday and Wednesday, with snow showers possible across the region on Thursday.
Highs today will range from the teens in the higher elevations of Northern New England to the mid 60s in western West Virginia.
