Israelis urge Citizens to be armed to deter terrorists

When Israel went on a heightened state of alert for the Passover holidays the government urged Israelis citizens with firearms permits to carry their personal weapons as a deterrent to terrorist attacks. According to security officials armed citizens are a valuable asset in the fight against terror. Says Israeli police spokesman Gil Kleiman, “We’ve seen it time and time again, armed civilians who are well trained can save people’s lives. If there isn’t a policeman on the scene civilians can deal immediately with a terrorist situation.” The same thing seems to be the case here in the U.S. In every instance where a school gunman has been stopped before he was finished with a shooting spree it was a citizen with a personally owned firearm that pit an end to the carnage.
