Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, heavy snow, and gusty winds are all possible in the Midwest today.
Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms will parts of the Lower Missouri and Mid-Mississippi Valley, with heavy rain extending through southern Wisconsin and much of Lower Michigan.
Farther north from north central Nebraska to Upper Michigan, heavy snow is expected.
By tomorrow, the heavy rain will move into the Upper Ohio Valley with some linger snow showers in the Upper Mississippi Valley into Michigan.
Another system will develop over the Plains on Wednesday and bring a chance of some rain and snow showers to the Plains States Wednesday before heading east and bringing another chance at some heavy rain and potentially some severe storms Thursday from the Mid-Mississippi through the Ohio Valley, with locally heavy rain moving up the Ohio Valley on Friday.
Highs today will range from 20s in the Black Hills to around 70 along the Kansas/Oklahoma border.
Highs tomorrow will range from around 30 in eastern Upper Michigan to the 60s in much of Kentucky and southeastern Ohio. |

Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are also possible over the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley today.
Farther east in the Carolinas, Virginia, and northern Georgia, a shallow layer of cold air will begin to break down some today, allowing temperatures to warm some compared to the chilly highs of yesterday.
As the frontal boundary in the Plains heads east, the chance of thunderstorms will also head east into the Southeast by tomorrow, but severe thunderstorms are less likely.
A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible again along the Southeast Coast Wednesday morning as the frontal boundary clears the coast, while a developing system in the Plains will bring a chance of thunderstorms to the Southern Plains.
This system will head east and bring thunderstorms to the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley on Thursday and across the Southeast Friday with some lingering showers near the Southeast Coast on Saturday.
Highs today will range from 40s in western parts of Virginia and North Carolina to the 90s in the Rio Grande Valley.
Highs tomorrow will range from the 50s in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles to the 80s in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. |
Northeast Regional Video
Rain will spread across the Northeast over the next couple of days as the system in the Central U.S. approaches.
Some light icing is possible in central and western New York State into Northern New England this morning as temperatures will hover near freezing before warming ahead of the system's approach.
Tomorrow, locally heavy rain and gusty winds are expected; rain may mix with or change to snow before winding down tomorrow night and Wednesday in the interior Northeast.
The next system to head through the region comes in Friday and Saturday bringing another chance of rain and wind across the region.
Highs today will range from 30s in northern New York State and Northern New England to the 60s in western West Virginia.
Highs tomorrow will range from around 40 in northern Maine to around 70 near Chesapeake Bay. |
West Regional Video
Areas of heavy snow are possible today in parts of the Mountain West and High Plains.
Areas of the Rockies in Wyoming and Colorado could see over a foot of snow by early tomorrow morning.
An upper level disturbance will move ashore along the California Coast on Wednesday bringing a chance of rain, with snow in the Sierras.
As this system moves inland, rain and snow are possible over the Intermountain West on Thursday.
Highs today will range from the teens near Yellowstone National park to the 80s in the Lower Colorado Valley and southeast New Mexico.
Highs tomorrow will range from the 20s near Yellowstone to the 80s from southeastern California through southern New Mexico. |
