Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Following Friday Muslim prayers on the Temple Mount, Palestinians threw stones at Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall plaza below. Israeli police stormed the Temple Mount and fired tear gas and rubber coated bullets to disperse the rioters. Dozens of Palestinians were initially taking part in the melee, but that number grew to hundreds after police stepped in, reports said. In the Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening, the army closed the Erez Industrial Zone - a joint Israeli-Palestinian venture, with some 170 Israeli and Palestinian factories where about 4,000 Palestinians work - due to "security assessments," security sources said. In Rafah, Israeli bulldozers were working to uncover weapons smuggling tunnels. Rafah straddles the internationally recognized Israeli-Egyptian border. Palestinians reported that a 19-year-old Palestinian had been killed in exchanges of gunfire there.
