Northeast
Today will feature yet another day of below average temperatures across the Northeast. The good news is that today's highs should actually be a few degrees warmer than those of Monday. Other than some scattered snow showers across the eastern Great Lakes and northern New England, mainly sunny skies should prevail. Highs will range from the 30s across northern New England to the 40s across southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic. Temperatures will continue to modify into Wednesday with highs returning to near average for late March.

Midwest
Strong southerly winds developing across the Great Plains will send milder air northward along with some moisture. Temperatures across the Plains will actually warm to levels about 5 to 10 degrees above late March averages. Showers and even a few thunderstorms will break out across parts of the mid-Mississippi and lower Ohio Valleys as a result of the milder air returning northward. Meanwhile, temperatures across the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Ohio Valley will climb close to average for this time of the year under generally fair skies. Highs will range from the 40s across the Great Lakes to the 70s across central Plains.

South
After a very chilly start across the Southeast, expect some rebound in temperatures today as strong March sunshine and a developing south-southwest winds help to warm the air. Other than a few showers along Florida's east coast and across Texas, most of the region will enjoy a pleasant spring afternoon. Highs will range from the 50s across the Carolinas and Georgia to the 60s and 70s along the Gulf Coast and in Florida. Temperatures will continue to warm into Wednesday.

West
Just less than 100 daily record high temperatures were set across the region on Monday, some of which were March record highs as well. The trend of record heat is about to come to a grinding halt, however, as the ridge responsible for the heat across the West is beginning to break down. A trough will replace the ridge by the weekend and the result will be below average temperatures with much more in the way of cloud cover and precipitation across the region. It will once again be warm across the Desert Southwest today with highs topping out in the 90s. Highs elsewhere will generally reach the 60s and 70s. Only spotty showers will dot the landscape today across the Rockies with fair skies across the remainder of the region.
