Franken's hometown newspaper, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, quotes Franken's agent as confirming that the comedian has finalized a deal to host a daily show on Central Air - - the liberal radio network formerly called AnShell Media which is due to launch in March. Joining Al Franken in the new lineup of the network is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. an environmental attorney.
And yes, Franken will air noon to 3:00 ET, opposite conservative nemesis Rush Limbaugh. Franken, after years of TV comedy, made his first foray into political commentary with his 1996 bestselling book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot." His latest book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," a diatribe against a wide variety of conservatives, is currently #2 on the New York Times bestseller list. Central Air's parent company, Progress Media, has stated that it is going to buy stations in New York, LA, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Boston for its new network, but to date no actual deals have been announced or filed.
