Facebook’s Next Move: Adverts in Newsfeed

Desperate to prove to investors Facebook can still make money, Zuckerberg and co have been testing this “intrusive” feature.

For the first time it allows Facebook to target “non-fans”, allowing any firm to advertize in your newsfeed. This is likely to further anger users who already believe there are too many ads.

If successful, the feature will be forced on all users of Facebook, whether you have “liked” these companies or products, you’re stuck with them rolling down your feed. No wonder Facebook never agreed to a “dislike” option.
